Our Atlantic adventure takes flight as we journey east from Edmonton to the colourful and captivating city of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Travel alongside your Pro Tours Tour Director and fellow travellers as excitement builds for the incredible journey ahead on “The Rock.” Upon arrival, our Coach Atlantic driver and local Newfoundland guide will be waiting to greet us with a warm East Coast welcome and transfer us to our hotel. Settle in for a two-night stay and get ready to discover the rugged coastlines, colourful communities, fascinating history and unmistakable East Coast Charm that make Newfoundland so unforgettable.

Our first full day on “The Rock” introduces us to the colourful character, dramatic coastline and fascinating history of Newfoundland’s capital. Accompanied by our Local guide, admire the famous “Jellybean” row houses, a cheerful patchwork of brightly painted homes that have become a beloved symbol of St. John’s. Journey to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America, where rugged cliffs meet the seemingly endless Atlantic Ocean. Explore the Historic Gun Batteries that once guarded the approaches to St. John’s Harbour before continuing to Signal Hill, where sweeping views provide a spectacular backdrop to the site where Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal.

Our guided tour concludes in the heart of downtown, leaving time to stroll along George Street and Water Street, browse the shops and soak up the lively East Coast atmosphere at your own pace. Reconvene at our hotel for a truly traditional welcome to Newfoundland with an Authentic Jiggs Dinner, sharing great food and warm hospitality with your fellow travellers.

Our Newfoundland adventure takes to the water with Gatherall’s Whale Watching Cruise, a true East Coast experience along the spectacular coastline. Breathe in the fresh Atlantic air and keep watch for whales and other marine life as local guides bring Newfoundland’s seafaring heritage to life with stories, songs and tales of the sea. Back on land, enjoy an included lunch before our route carries us across the island to Gander, arriving on a day that holds special significance for this remarkable community.

On September 11, 2001, when U.S. airspace was closed following the terrorist attacks, 38 passenger aircraft carrying nearly 7,000 people were diverted to Gander International Airport—almost doubling the town’s population in a matter of hours. For the next five days, residents of Gander and the surrounding communities opened their homes, schools and hearts to thousands of unexpected visitors known as “Come From Away.” Their extraordinary generosity captured the attention of the world and later inspired the hit musical Come From Away. Arriving on the Anniversary of that historic day gives our visit special meaning as we reflect on an unforgettable story of kindness, compassion and Newfoundland hospitality.

Our travels carry us north to the vibrant outport community of Twillingate, a jewel along Newfoundland’s rugged coastline. En route, visit the Beothuk Interpretation Centre for a guided tour offering insight into the history, culture and legacy of the Beothuk people. A stroll through the peaceful Ancient Gardens provides a quiet opportunity to reflect on their story and connection to this land.

Arriving in Twillingate, enjoy an included Lunch at Pier 39, overlooking the picturesque harbour and bay. Our route then winds toward the dramatic Long Point Lighthouse, perched high above the Atlantic, where sweeping views reveal rocky headlands, distant islands and the seemingly endless sea. A sweet Newfoundland treat awaits with a stop at a Local Fudge Shop before we make our way back to Gander. Settle in for a relaxing evening and another night in the heart of Central Newfoundland.

Leaving Gander behind, our route carries us west across Newfoundland toward the spectacular landscapes of Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, visit the Humpback Whale Pavilion at King’s Point, home to an impressive 50-foot humpback whale skeleton and fascinating displays that offer a closer look at these magnificent giants of the North Atlantic.
Nearby, browse the handcrafted treasures at King’s Point Pottery, where the work of Newfoundland artisans reflects the colours, landscapes and character of the island. A relaxing Included lunch at By the Sea Inn & Café provides a chance to enjoy the hospitality and coastal surroundings before continuing west.

Arriving in Gros Morne, a stop at the Gros Morne Visitor Centre introduces us to the extraordinary landscape that awaits—Towering Mountains, Aancient Geology, Deep Fjords and a rugged coastline shaped by time. Continue north to Cow Head and settle into Shallow Bay Cabins, surrounded by the wild beauty of Newfoundland’s west coast.

The spectacular landscapes of Gros Morne National Park continue to unfold as our route follows Newfoundland’s rugged western shore. Stop at The Arches, where the relentless power of the sea has carved striking openings through ancient coastal rock, before visiting Broom Point Fishing Premises to discover the traditions and stories of generations who made their living from these waters. Continue to Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, standing watch over the Gulf of St. Lawrence and offering beautiful views along Gros Morne’s dramatic coastline. Leaving the park behind, our journey carries us south toward Corner Brook and the Captain James Cook Historic Site, where panoramic views stretch across the Bay of Islands. Discover the story of Cook’s remarkably detailed 18th-century surveys of Newfoundland’s coastline while looking out over the very waters he once charted.

Settle into the charming Historic Glynmill Inn, an enduring part of Corner Brook’s heritage, and gather for an Included dinner. As evening settles in, there may be time for a peaceful stroll around nearby Glynmill Pond—a relaxing finish to a day filled with rugged shores, maritime traditions and Newfoundland history.

Our Newfoundland journey draws to a close as we travel south through the scenic Codroy Valley to Port aux Basques and board the Marine Atlantic Ferry bound for Nova Scotia. Settle in for the approximately 6 1⁄2-hour crossing, with comfortable lounges, onboard dining and plenty of time to relax as the rugged shores of “The Rock” slowly disappear beyond the horizon. Across the Cabot Strait, Cape Breton Island comes into view as we arrive in North Sydney. From here, a short drive carries us to the charming lakeside village of Baddeck, nestled along the shores of the Bras d’Or Lake. Known for its connection to Alexander Graham Bell, Baddeck welcomes us with beautiful scenery, Maritime charm and a taste of the Celtic Heritage that awaits in the days ahead. Settle in for the evening and enjoy an Included Dinner as we trade Newfoundland’s rugged shores for the rolling highlands and coastal beauty of Cape Breton.

Our Cape Breton journey gives way to another Maritime adventure as we cross the impressive Canso Causeway, the 1,385-metre rock-fill marvel connecting Cape Breton Island with mainland Nova Scotia. Our route continues to Caribou, where we board the Caribou Ferry for Prince Edward Island and enjoy a relaxing crossing of the Northumberland Strait. Arriving at Wood Islands, the unmistakable beauty of PEI begins to unfold. Red-soil roads, Rolling Farmland, Sweeping Coastal Views and picture-perfect communities accompany us as we make our way across the island toward Charlottetown, one of Canada’s most charming and historic cities. Before settling in for the evening, gather for a true Island tradition with an Included Lobster Dinner on the Wharf, enjoying fresh Maritime flavours in a classic waterfront setting. From here, it’s a short journey to the elegant Rodd Charlottetown, our historic home in the heart of the city.

Discover the stories, scenery and traditions that make Prince Edward Island so unforgettable. A Locally Guided Tour introduces us to Charlottetown, the historic Birthplace of Confederation, before leaving the city behind for the rolling farmland and beautiful coastal landscapes of PEI’s famous North Shore.

Step into the pages of a Canadian classic at Green Gables Heritage Place, where the setting that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved Anne of Green Gables comes to life. Continue to Cavendish Beach, where red sandstone cliffs, sweeping dunes and the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence create one of the Island’s signature landscapes. Along the way, enjoy an Included Lunch at the Turkey Tavern, adding a taste of local Island hospitality to our day. Island traditions take centre stage with a Lively Ceilidh, where Live Music, Colourful Stories and Warm Island Hospitality offer a taste of PEI’s Celtic heritage. An entertaining Oyster-shucking Demonstration follows, complete with the opportunity to Sample a freshly shucked PEI oyster. No Island tour would be complete without a visit to the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, with time to sample local specialties and browse the charming shop.

Return to Charlottetown with the late afternoon and evening at your leisure. Wander the historic streets, browse the shops, find a favourite local restaurant or simply soak up the atmosphere of this wonderfully walkable Maritime city.

Although we’re bidding farewell to Prince Edward Island, there’s still time for one final taste of Island life with a stop at Shop & Play at Gateway Village, a lively collection of shops and Island experiences near the entrance to the Confederation Bridge. Browse for a final PEI treasure before Crossing the spectacular Confederation Bridge into New Brunswick.

Once on the mainland, explore the sweet traditions of New Brunswick at Château Scoudouc Maple Products, where one of Canada’s most iconic flavours takes centre stage. Discover the world of maple, browse a tempting selection of locally made products and perhaps pick up a sweet treat or two for the journey.

An early afternoon arrival in Miramichi gives us time to slow the pace and enjoy this beautiful riverside community. Our home for the night is the Rodd Miramichi River, set directly along the banks of the Miramichi River in the heart of downtown. Expansive river views, easy walking access to Historic Water Street and genuine Maritime hospitality make this waterfront hotel the perfect place to settle in and enjoy the rhythm of life along the river.

Take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront or simply relax on your River-facing patio, enjoying the warm fall air and views of the impressive Centennial Bridge, rising 240 feet above the water and stretching approximately 1.1 kilometres across the Miramichi River. Rooted in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral homeland of the Mi’kmaq, and enriched by Acadian, Irish, Scottish and English heritage and newcomer cultures, Miramichi is a place where traditions, stories and river life run deep. Later, it’s just a short stroll to experience a true taste of local hospitality at a traditional Miramichi Kitchen Party. Settle in with Tea and Treats while local entertainers fill the room with Music, Songs, Stories and colourful tales of the region—a warm and memorable evening celebrating the people, traditions and unmistakable spirit of the Miramichi.

Our day remains flexible by design, as Mother Nature sets the schedule along the Bay of Fundy. We’ll arrange our sightseeing and other attractions around the best possible opportunity to experience Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park near low tide, ensuring we make the most of our visit to one of New Brunswick’s most remarkable natural wonders.

At the Ocean Tidal Exploration Site, witness the extraordinary power of the World’s highest tides, where billions of tonnes of seawater continually reshape the coastline. Depending on the tide, we may have the opportunity to descend to the ocean floor and walk among the towering Hopewell Rocks, carved by centuries of wind, water and erosion. Just hours later, the very ground beneath our feet can disappear beneath the rising waters of the Bay of Fundy.

Other sightseeing experiences will be woven into our day once the tidal schedule is confirmed, allowing us to enjoy the region without rushing this unforgettable natural phenomenon. Our journey concludes in Moncton, where our hotel overlooks the Petitcodiac River, another fascinating place to witness the influence of the Bay of Fundy. Settle in and watch the river from above, where the changing tides and famous tidal bore provide one more reminder of the incredible forces of nature that define this corner of Atlantic Canada.

Our journey follows the dramatic shores of the Bay of Fundy with a Locally Guided Scenic Drive through Fundy National Park, where forested hills tumble toward a coastline shaped by the world’s highest tides. Sweeping viewpoints and beautiful coastal scenery showcase another side of New Brunswick as we make our way toward the picturesque village of St. Martins. Pause in St. Martins with time for lunch on your own before heading to the beach to explore the entrance to the famous St. Martins Sea Caves. (No cave entrance is permitted) Carved into towering red sandstone cliffs by the relentless Fundy tides, these impressive formations offer a fascinating glimpse at the power of the sea and the ever- changing coastline.

Our route continues to Saint John, where we witness the remarkable Reversing Falls Rapids. Here, the enormous tides of the Bay of Fundy meet the flow of the Saint John River, creating powerful rapids and the extraordinary phenomenon that causes the river’s flow to reverse with the changing tide. Settle into our downtown Saint John hotel, perfectly situated for an afternoon of exploring at your own pace. Step outside and discover the historic waterfront, browse the Saint John City Market, explore the colourful Container Village, wander through nearby shops and galleries, or simply find a favourite spot along the harbour and enjoy the atmosphere of this historic port city.

Our journey into Nova Scotia begins with a scenic crossing of the Bay of Fundy aboard the Ferry to Digby. Relax and enjoy the views as we leave New Brunswick behind and arrive on the shores of one of Canada’s most historic regions.

Explore the story of early settlement at Port-Royal National Historic Site, a reconstruction of one of North America’s earliest European settlements, before enjoying time in Annapolis Royal, where centuries of history, heritage buildings and small-town Maritime charm line the streets.

Rolling farmland and picturesque countryside lead us through the beautiful Annapolis Valley to Grand-Pré National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape and a powerful symbol of Acadian heritage and resilience. Discover the story of Le Grand Dérangement, the forced deportation of the Acadian people, and the remarkable survival and renewal of Acadian culture that followed. A stop at the Landscape of Grand-Pré View Park provides a panoramic look across the fertile fields and remarkable landscape of this historic region.

From the Annapolis Valley, our route turns toward Nova Scotia’s picturesque South Shore, arriving at Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre. Settle in along the coast and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Mahone Bay—a relaxing conclusion to a day filled with Maritime scenery, stories and centuries of history.

A Trio of Nova Scotia favourites sets the stage for a memorable journey along the South Shore. Our first stop is picturesque Mahone Bay, where the famous trio of waterfront churches creates one of the province’s most photographed scenes. Enjoy time to wander the colourful streets, browse the local shops and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of this charming seaside community.

Our coastal journey continues to Old Town Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with colourful buildings, historic streets and a proud seafaring legacy. A Guided Walking Tour brings the town’s fascinating past to life before plenty of free time allows you to explore the waterfront at your own pace. Keep watch for the legendary Bluenose II, often seen in her home port, and visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, where stories of fishermen, shipbuilders and communities shaped by the sea come alive. With charming local restaurants tucked throughout town, there’s plenty of opportunity to find the perfect spot for lunch on your own.

One of Nova Scotia’s most iconic landscapes awaits at Peggy’s Cove. Wander through the charming fishing village, photograph the world-famous lighthouse standing proudly against the Atlantic, and take in the rugged granite shoreline and crashing waves that have made this remarkable place a symbol of Nova Scotia.

Our coastal loop brings us back to Oak Island Resort for a second evening. Settle in and enjoy the peaceful waterfront setting, perhaps taking a stroll along the shoreline, relaxing with the views across Mahone Bay, or simply enjoying the evening at your leisure as another wonderful day on Nova Scotia’s South Shore comes to a close.

Our journey through Halifax’s past continues at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, once one of Canada’s most important gateways for newcomers. Between 1928 and 1971, nearly one million immigrants arrived through Pier 21, carrying their belongings, dreams and hopes for a new beginning. Through personal stories, artifacts and interactive exhibits, discover the experiences of those who stepped ashore here and went on to help shape communities across Canada. For those with family connections to Canada’s immigration story, the visit may become even more personal. Pier 21’s Scotiabank Family History Centre offers resources that can help trace ancestors who arrived through Halifax and other Canadian ports, providing a fascinating opportunity to Uncover a piece of your own family history. With Pier 21 located right along the waterfront, enjoy lunch on your own from the many nearby choices before an unhurried afternoon along Halifax’s Historic Waterfront. This evening, gather together for our Farewell Dinner, sharing favourite stories, plenty of laughs and memories from our journey across Atlantic Canada. It’s a chance to raise a glass and bid a local guide and Coach Atlantic driver, as well as the new friends and fellow travellers who have shared this remarkable adventure. The places we’ve visited may have brought us together, but it’s often the friendships and shared experiences that become the best souvenirs of all.
